ATTENTION: Marketing

To Whom It May Concern:

I am a high school student from New Brunswick, Canada and I was reading a magazine recently and came across an ad for "Chicklets". If the poor taste shown in the attached advertisement reflects the taste of your gum, I don’t know who would even buy it.

I think that your ad strongly degrades females. Anyone who reads the name given to each chicklet character would know that you weren’t really referring to gum. Your choice and taste in words describe women in a dirty, distasteful way.

My only suggestion to you would be to change your ad because it reflects poorly on your product. I noticed that your ad is much like other distasteful ads run by different companies. In a world where there is so much violence and disrespect against females, I think it would be much wiser for your marketing team to come up with a more positive image regarding women.

Although a very clever ad, it does come at the expense of good moral values. The only image that these words imply is sexual degradation to women and this crosses the line of good taste.

Yours truly,
A Making Waves Student
