Natuashish
In September 2004, Making Waves facilitators spent four days in Natuashish, a community in northern Labrador. We were invited by the Mushuau Innu Health Commission to provide workshops on healthy relationships to their staff and to students and teachers in the community. The Health Commission is committed to providing programs for youth in their community. When they discovered our website, they contacted us for more information and made arrangements for us to travel to Natuashish. Mary Jane Edmonds greeted us on arrival and ensured we were well taken care of every step of the way. It was an experience we will not soon forget.
The people of Natuashish are on a journey to rebuild their community while maintaining their cultural identity. The journey has not been an easy one and no doubt they will continue to face many challenges. They are a determined people with a rich heritage.
