APSEA

In October 2005, Making Waves team members traveled to Halifax to deliver two days of workshops at APSEA (Atlantic Provinces Special Education Authority). We were joined there by one of our Waves Alumni members, who is actually a student at Dalhousie University. This was the third consecutive year that we partnered with APSEA to work with students who are Deaf/hearing impaired and/or blind/visually impaired.

This year’s workshops were delivered to a group of eight teen girls, all of whom are Deaf or hearing impaired. These students came together from all over the maritimes, and spent a week at the APSEA facility learning all about relationship and violence issues. In addition to spending two days with the Waves team, APSEA staff did two days of pre-training to familiarize the group with the subject matter, and a final day to wrap up the week’s learnings.

Thanks so much to APSEA, for their support of our work and their belief that together we can make a difference!
