A Making Waves Weekend was held September 29th - October 1st, 2006 in Renfrew County, Ontario. The location for this event was a camp at Golden Lake, which provided interesting opportunities for encounters with nature...
A number of organizations came together to organize this special event, led by Women’s Shelter and Support Services in Pembroke. Teens from eight local high schools participated in workshops on healthy relationships, abuse, media and gender stereotypes, self-esteem, personal boundaries and how to help friends in danger, beginning a wave of awareness that is spreading throughout the county.
Special thanks to the many volunteers, teachers and students who came together to make this event happen...keep making waves!
